Those that make it happen…

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Hello all

Enough is never said about those that make ‘it’ happen. Whether this be a diesel, or steam event, the preservation scene would not exist without the tireless effort and toil of a dedicated following of enthusiasts who are seldom spoken or refered to. While ‘we’ the many enthusiasts are happy to reap the reward of their hard work, their pleasure is derived from manning the machines, stocking the stalls or trollies, perhaps even just pouring the tea. Its normally the engines that are the focus of the cameras lense or the eyes attention, but whether we are old or young, experienced and knowledgeable  about our subject, the fact remains that it would remain a lifeless hunk of metal without that personal touch to light the fire, or rev the engine.

During the last weekend at shildon I have been with some freindly faces, both staff and volunteers that have manned yet another event in the great programme of the preservation calender and seen first hand the efforts extolled by their dilligence and virtues. This next gallery I’d like to draw particular attention to ‘those that make it happen’ as a case in point, not just for this event but all those others across all lines and areas of preservation.

Comments for pictures in the gallery are welcomed – including some that would make good caption competitions!

Heres to them….
